Comets Top Force In First Game Of Weekend, 8-3

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force played host and was defeated the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Kansas City Comets by a final score of 8-3 at the Wolstein Convocation Center.

With the loss, the Force fell to 8-12 overall, 1-2 in the season series and 5- 6 at home. With the victory, the Comets snapped their four game losing streak and improved to 9-11 overall and 5-7 on the road.

Kansas City opened the scoring (0-1) when Jason Woods scored his first goal of the season at 6:19 of the first quarter.

Cleveland tied the game (1-1) when midfielder Kyt Selaidopoulos stole the ball at the yellow line and tapped a pass to forward Antonio Sutton who then hit Kyt at the back post for the score at 13:35 of the second quarter. The Comets regained the lead (1-2) when Jamar Beasley scored the restart goal at 13:57.

The Force tied the game for the second time and opened the second half scoring (2-2) when forward Chris Handsor buried a shot in the far post of the assist from Selaidopoulos, who got Handsor the ball on a slide tackle and the ball went right to him at 7:35 of the third quarter. Kansas City regained the lead (2-3) when Beasley scored his second goal of the game off the cross from Goran Hunjak at 9:21.

The Comets added to their lead (2-4) when Hunjak found the back of the net off the assist from Armando Valdivia just 54 seconds into the fourth quarter. Kansas City kept up the scoring attack (2-5) when Stefan Stokich found the loose ball and tapped it in for the score off the second assist for Valdivia at 2:38. The Comets kept rolling (2-6) when James Koehler scored the goal off the cross from Casey Stevens at 5:02. Kansas City added to their lead (2-7) when Valdivia found the back of the net off the assist from Oswaldo Medina at 5:51. Cleveland snapped a 5-0 by the Comets (3-7) when midfielder Gary DePalma scored the goal with the sixth attacker on off the assist from defender Genoni Martinez at 8:06. Kansas City responded (3-8) when Koehler scored his second goal against the sixth attacker at 8:25.

The Force will hit the road for the second game of the weekend when they travel to the Kansas City, Missouri to take on the Comets on Saturday, February 12.
