Kansas City Comets News Release
The Kansas City Comets (5-10) take on two Eastern Division opponents, the Philadelphia KiXX (9-5) and the Cleveland Force (4-10), this weekend. The Comets are 2-2 against Eastern Division opponents so far this season.
The KiXX travel to Kemper Arena for the teams' third meeting. The teams will meet for the final time on March 9 in Philadelphia. The KiXX last came to Kemper Arena on November 28, and the KiXX went home with a 13-8 victory. Kansas City won the first meeting 11-9 on November 15 in Philadelphia. Philadelphia is one of three teams in the MISL with a road record above .500. Philadelphia is currently in second place in the Eastern Division, one game behind the Baltimore Blast.
Gold Bank is sponsoring a Comets Visor give-away for the first 3,000 fans who enter Kemper Arena on Saturday night. Also on hand are former Kansas City Comets and Attack players, who will play at halftime. The players will be in the East Lobby at 6:30 p.m. and will be available to sign autographs. Legends scheduled to attend are Alan Mayer, Tim Clark, Chris Duke, Emilio John, Kevin Koetters, Edmond Rugova, Elson Seale, Christ Hundelt, Robby Goff, Kevin Zimmerman, Jon Parry, Dan Dailey, Sammy Ekeme, Jim Schwab and Kim Roentved. The legends' jerseys will be auctioned off, and fans can also purchase Attack/Comets memorabilia during the game.
After the home game at Kemper Arena, the Comets travel to Cleveland for the teams' first meeting this season. Cleveland is currently in third place in the Eastern Division with a 4-10 record, six games behind the KiXX. Cleveland has lost five straight games entering this week and is 2-4 at the Convo. Force forward Adauto Neto, who is second on the team with 15 points, will miss the game while recovering from knee surgery.
The game will be broadcast live on Channel 38 The Spot and rebroadcast at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 12 on Metro Sports. Both games can be heard live on the radio at KCKN 1340.
