Kansas City Comets News Release

Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Comets announced on Tuesday the signing of goalkeeper Chris Damico to a one-year contract with an option to renew next season. Damico, a native of Kansas City, will be available to play on Saturday, December 13 when the Comets travel to Baltimore to take on the Baltimore Blast.

"We're excited to get Chris back," said Comets Head Coach and General Manager Zoran Savic. "He's a veteran player who did a great job for us two years ago. We're looking forward to his defensive leadership in back."

Damico, 33, graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1989. He attended the University of Akron and was a member of Akron's Mid-Continent Conference Championship team in 1991.

An indoor soccer veteran, Damico played with the Harrisburg Heat last season, going 3-6 with a 14.16 points against average in 10 games. In 2001-02, he played 35 games with the Comets and had a record of 20-14 with a PAA of 13.86. That season, Damico was selected to play in the MISL All-Star game.

Damico also played for the Wichita Wings from 1996 until 2001 and for the Canton Invaders from 1993 until 1996. For his career, Damico is 101-125 with a 14.37 points against average in 249 games (all of which came when the League employed a multi-point scoring system).

This weekend, the Comets travel to Baltimore to play the Blast at 1st Mariner Arena. Kickoff is 7:35 p.m. (EST), and the game will be televised live on Channel 29 and replayed on Metro Sports. On December 14, the Comets return home for a game against Central Division opponent Milwaukee Wave. Both games can be heard live on KCKN Sports Radio 1340 AM, with Nick Vasos providing the call.

Following this weekend's games, the Comets settle at Kemper Arena for a three-game home stretch. The club faces St. Louis (December 26), Dallas (December 31) and Baltimore (January 2).
