MISL Kansas City Comets

Comets Ready for Playoff Push

January 20, 2012 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Kansas City Comets News Release

(Independence, MO) Last year the Comets made a run for the ages to get into the playoffs and came within minutes of playing for the MISL Championship. That little taste of success has been fueling the players all season. Now as the second half of the season gets in full-swing the Comets are focused and ready for another great run.

Next on the Comets schedule is the Norfolk SharX. These two teams have faced off twice already this year with the Comets taking both games easily. However, this is not the same SharX squad that struggled through a 0-9 start. The players assembled by coach John Hall have vast outdoor soccer experience and are now picking up the nuances of the indoor game. That coupled with outstanding play from goalkeeper Jamie Lieberman has helped the SharX to win 3 of their last five, including a shocking upset of Baltimore on January 12th.

The Comets are coming off a disappointing loss to the Wichita Wings last Saturday at Sprint Center, but are focused on doing what it takes to beat Norfolk. Coach Roentved knows his team can't look past the surging SharX, "I told the boys before our last game (against the Sharx) to remember how we struggled last year before turning things around. If we want to win a Championship we have to beat every team and play to our best at every opportunity."

As always, fans are encouraged to watch the game at the Official Home of the Comets Watch Party, BrewTop Pub & Patio in Lee's Summit. Kickoff is at 6pm CST.
