Kansas City Comets News Release

Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Comets announced on Wednesday that 11 of their games (10 away, one home) will be televised live as part of their 2003-04 television package.

The first live broadcast will be this Sunday, November 9, when the Comets travel to San Diego to take on the Sockers. Kickoff at San Diego Sports Arena will be 5:00 p.m. Pacific, 7:00 p.m. Central. The game can be seen on Channel 38 The Spot, and it will be the first of six games carried live by Channel 38.

KCWE Channel 29 (three) and Metro Sports (two) will also carry live Comets broadcasts this season. In addition, all 11 games will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on Metro Sports.

"We're entering into an exciting time in the Major Indoor Soccer League, and consistently being on television is a natural step in our progression," said Comets Owner Don Kincaid. "Being on live TV elevates the club's profile and benefits our sponsors, our fans, and our League."

"Indoor soccer is a great television sport. We saw evidence of that last season, when the three games we televised on Channel 38 generated exceptional ratings," said Comets Coach, General Manager, and COO Zoran Savic. "Building a television presence was one of our priorities so we're pleased to get this done. We're also very happy that our fans can see us while we're on the road."

"38 The Spot is delighted to be the television broadcast partner for the Kansas City Comets this season," said Jim Swinehart, Vice President and General Manager of KSHB-TV and KMCI-TV. "The Comets provide Kansas City sports fans some of the most exciting action available in any sport and 38 The Spot's live broadcasts will give fans the best seat in the house for many of the Comets most important road games."

"KCWE is pleased to add Comets games to our weekend schedule, and we look forward to supporting our hometown team," said Karen King, KCWE Program Supervisor.

"Metro Sports is proud to be the number one provider of professional and amateur soccer in Kansas City," said John Dennison of Channel 38. "I'm sure our viewers will love to be able to see these Comets games."

Comets fans will be able to see their team play in Baltimore, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Monterrey, and San Diego throughout the season. The lone Kansas City home game to be broadcast live will be their February 14 contest against the Monterrey Fury. The Comets' full 2003-04 broadcast schedule appears on the following page.
