Comeback Win for Scorpions

YUMA, Ariz. - The Yuma Scorpions overcame a seventh-inning deficit to beat the Long Beach Aramada, 8-7 on Saturday night Desert Sun Stadium.

A.J. Valentine's two-run in the fifth inning gave the Scorpions life as they were trailing 5-2 before the blast over the right-field wall cut the lead to 5-4.

Yuma outhit Long Beach 11-10 as Yosvany Almario led the team with three hits in the 25th (25-17, 4-0) win of the season.

Valentine scored a team-high three runs and Almario chipped in with two. Designated hitter Nik Crouch went 2 for 4 including an RBI.

In relief, Yuma's Aaron Wilson (1-0) got the win as he pitched three innings, giving up one run on two hits.

Long Beach was led by John Kaplan who went 3 for 5 with two home runs, three RBIs and three runs scored.

The Armada suffered their first loss of the second half of the season (3-1).

The two teams wrap up a two-game series tonight at Desert Sun Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
