
Comeback in Ninth Falls Short, Generals Fall 11-10

JACKSON, TENN. - The Generals had their three-game winning streak snapped Friday night, despite a valiant comeback against Chattanooga, 11-10. Jackson scored four runs in the ninth and stranded the tying run at second base. The Generals (41-27) lead the series 2-1 and season series over Chattanooga, 6-2.
Jackson got the scoring started in the second inning after Kalian Sams scored on a single from Ralph Henriquez. Henriquez later scored on what was Leury Bonilla's fourth RBI of the season. The Generals led 2-0.
The Lookouts responded in the third inning by scoring five runs and claiming their first lead of the series. Blake Smith hit a bases loaded, 2-run double to right field. That was followed by a sacrifice fly by Travis Denker that scored Luis Nunez. Kyle Russell then hit his sixth home run of the year off Jackson starter Taijuan Walker to make the score 5 -2.
Jackson scored one run in the third, and Chattanooga answered with one run in both the fourth and fifth. Chih-Hsien Chiang cleared the bases with a double in the fifth and cut the Lookout lead to one, at 7-6.
Chattanooga kept the the offense going in the sixth thanks to a 2-run triple by Pedro Baez, his fourth triple of the year. The Lookouts scored two more in the seventh on a double by Blake Smith to extend the lead to 11-6.
The Generals' bats showed a little life in the ninth inning, starting with a home run by Eric Campbell, his fourth of the year. Denny Almonte singled and later scored on Kalian Sams' seventh double of the year. Chih-Hsien Chiang drove in Sams with a hard hit double to left. Ralph Henriquez contributed to the hit parade with an RBI double to center, making the score 11 to 10.
Taijuan Walker (3-4) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on six hits over 3.2 innings of work. Walker struck out four and walked three.
Chih-Hsien Chiang was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a season-high five RBI. Kalian Sams, Ralph Henriquez and Eric Campbell each collected three hits on the night. The two teams combined for 21 runs and 28 hits.
The Generals continue their five-game series with Chattanooga Saturday night, with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. RHP Forrest Snow (0-0, 0.00) will make his Jackson debut against LHP Aaron Miller (3-4, 4.93) for the Lookouts. Saturday their will be High Tech Special Effects Fireworks after the game, presented by Best One Tire plus it's Henderson County Night and Night of Heart at the Ballpark.
