January 28, 2005 - NBA G League (G League)
Columbus Riverdragons News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C., January 28 – The Columbus Riverdragons of the National Basketball Development League have claimed forward LeRoy Hurd from the NBDL Available Player Pool, according to an announcement today by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone. Hurd fills the spot vacated by Riverdragons shooting guard Adam Harrington, who has been waived in order to rehabilitate an injury suffered on January 25 at Asheville.

Hurd, a 6-7, 215-pound small forward from the University of Texas-San Antonio comes to Columbus after starting the 2004-05 season in France and in the ABA with the Portland Reign, where he averaged 16.0 points per game.

As a collegian, the Moss Point, Miss. native led the Southland Conference in scoring as a junior and a senior. Hurd was named the 2004 Southland Conference Most Valuable Player as a senior, averaging a conference-best 19.4 points along with 8.0 rebounds per game. The 24-year old helped lead the Roadrunners to the 2004 Southland Conference regular season and tournament championships, as well as a berth in the 2004 NCAA Tournament. As a junior, Hurd averaged a Southland Conference-best 17.6 points per contest.

Hurd began his college career at the University of Miami (FL), where he appeared in 62 games for the Hurricanes, averaging 4.3 points as a freshman and 5.8 points per game as a sophomore.

Hurd will be in uniform for the Riverdragons in their next game, tonight, as Columbus takes on the Huntsville Flight at the Columbus Civic Center. He will wear uniform #0.

Harrington was injured in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 89-83 Riverdragons victory at Asheville. The 6-5, shooting guard from Auburn was second on the club in scoring (12.6 ppg) and averaged 21 points per game in his last five overall. Harrington appeared in 19 games for Columbus, averaging 23.4 minutes per contest.

The first-place Riverdragons (15-7) will look to return to the win column tonight versus Huntsville. The game is a rematch of the Flight's 77-76, last-second victory over the Riverdragons on January 17 at the Columbus Civic Center. Columbus will try to earn just its second win in five tries versus Huntsville (14-10) this season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Columbus Civic Center.

It will be NBA Night, with two special appearances and performances. Washington Wizards mascots, G-Wiz and G-Man, will perform their high-flying, aerial acrobatic dunking show during the game. Then, following the contest, Columbus hometown favorites, Cornbread, will perform a live, post-game concert as part of the Budweiser True Music Concert Series.

Tickets start as low as $7.50. To purchase tickets visit the Columbus Civic Center box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, including Publix supermarkets, call Ticketmaster at 1-800-4-NBA-TIX, or log onto ticketmaster.com.
