
Columbus Acquires Hurd, Waives Harrington

GREENVILLE, S.C., January 28 â The Columbus Riverdragons have acquired forward LeRoy Hurd from the National Basketball Development League available player pool, according to NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone. The Dragons have also waived guard Adam Harrington while he rehabilitates nagging injuries.
At 6-7, 215, Hurd is a rookie from the University of Texas-San Antonio ('04). He averaged 19.4 points and 8.0 rebounds as a senior at UTSA. He played on the San Antonio Spurs summer league team at the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue this past summer.
Harrington played in 19 games (one start) for the Riverdragons, averaging 23.4 minutes, 12.6 points and 2.0 rebounds.
Hurd, 24, played two years at the University of Miami (Fla.) before transferring to UTSA, where he earned Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year honors after averaging 17.6 points per game as a junior.
The Moss Point, Miss., native is expected to be in uniform when the Riverdragons host Huntsville tonight. He will wear jersey #0.
