
Columbus Picks Up Tyrone Washington

GREENVILLE, S.C. (December 11, 2002) - Looking for help inside, the Columbus Riverdragons have acquired center/power forward Tyrone Washington, according to National Basketball Development League Executive Director Karl Hicks and Columbus Head Coach Jeff Malone.
A second-round draft pick by the Houston Rockets in 1999, Washington played collegiately at Mississippi State. He averaged 12.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as a senior in 1998-99. He has been playing internationally for the last three years in Italy and Yugoslavia.
Washington, 6-foot-10 and 260 pounds, will wear jersey number 42 for the Riverdragons. The Indianola, Miss., product was born Sept. 16, 1976. He is expected to be in uniform when the Riverdragons host Mobile Friday at the Columbus Civic Center.
