Columbus Destroyers Name Doug Lytle Defensive Coordinator

The Green Bay Blizzard announces that former coach Doug Lytle has signed a contract to be the Defensive Coordinator for the Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League (AFL). Lytle leaves the Blizzard after four years with the organization.

The Columbus Destroyers, who also announced Pat Sperduto as the team's new Head Coach, won the National Conference Title and made their frst ever trip to the Arena Bowl in franchise history in 2007.

Coach Lytle frst joined the Blizzard coaching staff in 2005 as the FB/LB/Special Teams Coach. The Blizzard made their frst of four-straight playoff appearances in Lytle's frst year on the staff. In 2006 the team won the American Conference title and earned a trip to ArenaCup7. Lytle was named the Head Coach of the Blizzard in 2007, where he lead the team to the American Conference Championship game. In 2008, Lytle not only returned to the team on the feld as Defensive Coordinator, he was also named Vice President of Football Operations.

Lytle's defense was the number one ranked defense in 2008. The Blizzard fnished frst in total defense (200.2), sacks (55), pass defense (178.7), pass effciency (69.7), fumble recoveries (25), and second in scoring defense (38.1).

Previous to his coaching career, Lytle spent four seasons in the Arena Football League (AFL). His frst two seasons were spent with the Milwaukee Mustangs as an OL/DL in 2000 and 2001, where he also played for current Blizzard Head Coach Bob Landsee. In 2002 Lytle joined the Toronto Phantoms, where he played under Landsee and Blizzard Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Mark Stoute. Lytle ended his playing career in 2003 with the Dallas Desperados.
