Columbus Crew SC News Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Crew Stadium and the Ohio State Fair announced today that Rascal Flatts will be returning to Crew Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 9, marking the fourth time in five years they'll perform at the venue. This year's show will take place on the closing night of the 2009 Ohio State Fair. Dierks Bentley and former Hootie and the Blowfish lead singer Darius Rucker will be the support acts for the show.

Rascal Flatts will launch their next CD Unstoppable on April 7. After pre-releasing their new single "Here Comes Goodbye" to iTunes on March 10th, Rascal Flatts broke the record for the largest first week digital scans for a country debut single. According to Nielsen Soundscan, with 126,000 copies of Rascal Flatts' Here Comes Goodbye" purchased, the band topped all previous digital sales thresholds by any other country artist for the first week scans for a debut single. Rascal Flatts has sold over 18 million albums, scored 10 #1 singles with five of their albums being multi-platinum sellers. Rascal Flatts has become one of the most consistently awarded acts in history, with their 2008 ACM Vocal Group of the Year award, their sixth, tying them with all-time super-group Alabama for most consecutive wins in that category. The band is also the reigning CMA and CMT Vocal Group of the Year. They were honored as the 2008 Academy of Country Music/The Home Depot® Humanitarian Award recipients during the ACM Awards show last May. This honor, in part, due to their dedication to raising funds for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, where in the past 4 years they have donated 3 million dollars, as well as their work on the American Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet board.

"We would like to congratulate Rascal Flatts on their recent record breaking success and we look forward to welcoming them back home for what promises to be another highly anticipated event," said Crew President & General Manager Mark McCullers. "Rascal Flatts has always delivered a tremendous show in front of their hometown fans and this will be their first time performing on our new permanent stage, which will improve the experience for our guests."

The show will begin at 7:30 pm with gates opening at 6:00pm. Tickets for this show will go on sale Saturday, April 11 at 10am at all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster phone centers at 800-745-3000 and the Crew Stadium Box Office. Ticket prices will be $45, $60 & $75, all of which include admission to the Fair prior to the show.

Located adjacent to the Ohio State Fairgrounds, Crew Stadium is a 20,145-seat facility, with the ability to hold up to 30,000 for concerts, that features a permanent main stage and roof structure. It is home to the MLS Cup-champion Columbus Crew and is a target destination for other marquee sports and entertainment events including U.S. Soccer matches, NFL exhibitions, NCAA soccer and concerts.
