Columbus Cottonmouths News Release

Columbus, GA - Tyler Henry, Louis Belisle and Shawn Bates are being called up to the ECHL and the Snakes sign three players to take their place.

Henry was called up to Brampton, Belisle to Wheeling and Bates to Atlanta. The Cottonmouths will be signing John Hubbard, Josh Richards and Chad Bennett.

John Hubbard is a 28-year-old defenseman hailing from Arlington, Texas. He played his college hockey at UMass-Boston and played junior hockey for the Oswego Admirals. He is stationed at Fort Benning and will be a great addition to the back line for the Snakes. Hubbard is 6'0'',185 lbs so he will add a good bit of size to the defense.

Josh Richards is another Fort Benning player that has four years of Army hockey experience. Richards is from Lee, New Hampshire where he played at West Point. Richards will be playing forward for the Snakes.

Chad Bennett is the final signee for the Cottonmouths. The 24-year-old Burlington, Ontario native will be playing forward for the Snakes. He has an extensive career at the junior, collegiate and professional level. He attended SUNY-Fredonia and played in the FHL for the Watertown Wolves, Berlin River Drivers and the Dayton Demolition.

Henry, Belisle and Bates will be missed as they are a large piece of the team's offense, but as it happens, players do get called up and teams must adapt. When asked about the new signees, Jerome said, "Right now we need some energy and some new enthusiasm combined with a little grit and physical play. I believe these new guys will provide a different look and feel to the team. At the end of the day, we need to out work and out battle the other team and I believe I will get that from them."
