San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- San Angelo's pitching staff held the Abilene Prairie Dogs scoreless through 8 2/3 innings and guided the Colts to a 4-1 win Tuesday night at Foster Field.

Kyle Boggio (1-2) made a spot start for the Colts and was terrific. He earned the win, tossing six shutout innings. He gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. It was Boggio's longest outing of the year.

Relievers Chris Weast, Michael Hacker and Erik Draxton gave up just one run on four hits in three innings. Abilene's lone run came on an RBI double by catcher Chris Caves in the ninth.

The Colts took a 1-0 lead in the second. Designated hitter Cory Patton singled and then scored on left fielder Jamar Walton's two-out, RBI base hit. San Angelo tacked on two more runs in the sixth, thanks to an error by Caves.

With first baseman Daryl Jones on second and right fielder J.J. Sherrill at third, Caves made an errant throw down the third base line in an attempt to pick off Sherrill. The ball went into left field and Sherrill and Jones both scored to give the Colts a 3-0 advantage.

An RBI single by Jason Crosland in the eighth provided San Angelo with an additional insurance run.

Abilene starter Woods Fines (3-7) took the loss, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits in six innings.

The wins improve San Angelo to 28-30, while the loss drops Abilene to 22-34. This series continues Wednesday with Sherwin Wednesday, sponsored by Sherwin Williams. Either the Colts win, or you get free tickets to the next Wednesday home game, courtesy of Sherwin Williams.
