
Colts Sign Reed, Release Wright

San Angelo, Texas - The San Angelo Colts announced Wednesday they have signed outfielder Justin Reed, and released fellow outfielder Matt Wright.
Reed, 25, made his Colts' and independent league debut last night. It was his first professional game since 2010 when he was in the Cincinnati Reds organization.
Originally a fourth-round draft pick by the Reds in 2006, Reed spent the first five years of his in their organization. He reached as far as the A-Advanced Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League in 2010.
Reed split the 2010 season between Lynchburg and the Class A Dayton Dragons of the Midwest League. He combined to hit .205 with four home runs and 13 RBIs in 46 games that year.
Now in his sixth professional season, Reed has a career .230 average with 22 homers, 117 RBIs and 61 stolen bases in 392 games.
The Colts released Wright after he started six games in centerfield. In that time, Wright hit .227 with four RBIs.
Wright joined the Colts on June 29 after being traded from the Normal CornBelters of the independent Frontier League in exchange for outfielder Oscar Garcia. Wright made his Colts' debut in game one of the July 2 doubleheader against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings.
