Colts Drop Two in a Row

San Angelo, Texas--- The Broncos veteran left hander Luis Arroyo stifled the Colts (36-17) offense for seven innings as Laredo (20-33) took game one by a score of 4-2.

Chandler Barnard, the league leader in wins with nine, faced the Broncos in a scoreless ballgame in the top of second inning. After retiring the first two hitters, Broncos third baseman Andres Santos sent his sixth homer of the season over the left field wall. Robert Moron and OJ Garza followed with doubles, Laredo jumped to a 2-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, for the second time in as many games, Jason Landreth added a run with a long ball. Landreth's fourteenth homer of the season brought the Colts within one.

Broncos extended their lead in the fifth. After three consecutive singles from the Laredo offense, their lead stood at 4-1.

Colts Catcher Travis Calloway collected his first homerun in professional baseball in the bottom half of the fifth inning. San Angelo's deficit became two runs.

The Broncos would load the bases to begin the sixth inning. Barnard was replaced by left hander Jacob Ramos. The Southpaw mowed down the next three batters to keep the Laredo lead to just two. Ramos pitched a scoreless seventh inning, Tom Martin and Matt Duff followed with a scoreless eighth and ninth inning.

San Angelo entered the bottom of the ninth inning trailing by two. Laredo closer Franklyn Gracesqui made quick work of the Colts motoring threw the San Angelo offense, securing a 4-2 Bronco win. Laredo leads the series one game to none.

Chandler Barnard was tagged with the loss. Barnard went five innings giving up ten hits and four runs. Southpaw Luis Arroyo earned the win, Gracesqui grabbed his fifth save of the season.

San Angelo and Laredo will continue their four game series tomorrow at Foster Field. Wednesday's promotion will be Sure Win Wednesday/ Youth Clinic sponsored Sherwin Williams.
