San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, TX--The night before San Angelo snapped a season high 7 game losing streak by beating the Edinburg Roadrunners 8-6. The Colts weren't happy with just one game however as they doubled their pleasure by winning a wild one 13-12 in 12 innings. In the ballgame, the two teams combined to use 11 pitchers and compile 25 runs on 42 hits in a game that lasted nearly 4 hours. Neither starting pitcher would make it out of the 2nd inning as Chris Flanagan's wildness would be his undoing after walking 4 straight with the bases loaded to give Edinburg an early lead. Dan Henderson, the Roadrunners starters was equally inefective as he surrendered 5 runs on 7 hits in 1 1/3 innings pitched. For the Colts both Kurt Watzek and Dwayne Dobson pitched great in relief while Edinburg had quality innings from Joe Goodman and Steve Wilkerson. However none of these pitchers would figure into the decision. The lead changed hands 8 times, including several times in the 1st 5 innings that would see the teams deadlocked at 11 after 5. That would be the score until the 12th, when Edinburg got a run on a Neesan Zieour single that brought home Anthony Angel who was 5-6 on the night. The Colts answered in the bottom half with the bases loaded, as newly acquired 3rd baseman Matt Sanchez delievered his 3rd hit of the night to left field as Rocha scored the tying run and Zieor's throw to the plate was milli-seconds behind the slide of Joe Gilbert as the Colts escaped the Roadrunner's clutches with a 13-12 come from behind win. In the game, Juan Rocha hit his 8th homer of the season and Ricky Magdelano added his 3rd. Julio Ramirez takes the loss while Chad Johnson picks up the win.
