Colorado 14ers News Release

DENVER - December 16, 2008 - The Colorado 14ers completed a 27 point fourth quarter turnaround to knock off the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 118-99 at the Broomfield Event Center Tuesday night. Colorado trailed by 89-81 with 8:08 to play, before outscoring the Vipers 37-10 down the stretch.

Dominique Coleman led the way for Colorado with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Eddie Gill added 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Josh Davis returned after missing two games with a swollen knee to score 15 points off the bench.

"In the fourth quarter we picked up our defensive intensity and started making the little plays that we weren't earlier in the game," said 14ers head coach Bob MacKinnon. "We stopped allowing second shots and we just locked in defensively."

Coleman and Gill each scored 13 points in the decisive fourth quarter, when the 14ers forced the Vipers into nine turnovers. Colorado also connected on 17 of 24 free throws in the final period when Rio Grande Valley starters Smush Parker, Alton Ford, and Trent Strickland all fouled out of the game.

The Vipers were led by Strickland's 21 points. Alpha Bangura added 19 off the bench in the loss.

The 14ers are back at home tomorrow night to host the Sioux Falls Skyforce at 7:00 p.m. MST. Rio Grande Valley continues on the road at Tulsa Thursday.
