Colorado Looks to End a 'Mammoth' Winning Streak

Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth heads to Rexall Place for the second time this season to face the undefeated Edmonton Rush (13-0) on Saturday at 8pm MT. The Mammoth is currently in the third and final playoff spot in the West Division, a half-game ahead of the Stealth.
"Right now, with Vancouver nipping at our heels at 4-9 and we're 5-9, we have to make the playoffs," said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. "That's the first focus of our attention: making the playoffs. That means focusing on each individual game as it stands and playing the game ahead of us."
For the Mammoth, that equates to trying to defeat an opponent that hasn't dropped a game yet this year.
"I am excited at the opportunity," said Mammoth forward Athan Iannucci, who led the team with four goals this past weekend. "You get to step up against the team who's obviously putting together the best season so far and see where you stack up. That's kind of what sports are all about, and I'm looking forward to it, and I think it's going to be fun. There's a saying that says 'the bigger they are, the harder they fall'."
To beat the Rush, the Mammoth will need Iannucci and other offensive players to put up big numbers against Edmonton's stiff defensive front - a unit that leads the NLL in goals-against-average.
Adam Jones returned from injury in last week's loss against the Philadelphia Wings after missing the previous five games. In his return, the third-year forward scored two goals and notched three assists.
This weekend's game will be the third of four meetings between the Mammoth and Rush this season, with Edmonton coming to Colorado next Friday on 'Fan Appreciation Night'. After dropping a 13-10 decision to the Rush on Opening Night, the Mammoth was blown out in Edmonton in January.
The game will air live on The Lacrosse Network on YouTube and will air on tape-delay on Altitude on Mon., Apr. 7.
