Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Monday that they have re-signed forward Trent Daavettila for the 2014-15 season. During the 2013-14 campaign, Daavettila's second season with the Eagles, the Howell, Michigan native led the team with 44 assists, tied for the team lead in scoring with 67 points and ended the regular season ranked fourth on the squad with 22 goals. He would go on to be named an ECHL Second Team All-Star and take home the honors as the league's Player of the Month in December. The 2013-14 season also saw Daavettila receive a call-up to the AHL with both the Chicago Wolves and the Lake Erie Monsters, posting four points in four AHL contests.
In two seasons with Colorado, Daavettila has notched 133 points in 133 games, including 41 goals and has a cumulative plus-minus rating of plus-16. The veteran forward has also registered 15 points in 12 post-season games with the Eagles.
Since 2009, Daavettila has produced the most points in the entire ECHL with 397 (including playoff games). In that time, his 270 assists are also good for first, while his cumulative plus/minus rating of plus-79 is tied for first in the ECHL.
"Bringing Trent back is a huge piece of the puzzle when it comes to what we are trying to assemble for the upcoming season," said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. "He continues to be one of the most productive players in this league and you cannot overstate how valuable he is for us as a leader in the dressing room."
In 324 regular season ECHL games, the 6-foot, 190-pound forward has accumulated 336 points (110-226-336), highlighted by a stellar 2010-11 season (in which he led the league with a plus-28 plus/minus) that helped Kalamazoo represent the Eastern Conference in the Kelly Cup Finals. He led the K-Wings in points in both the 2010-11 and 2011-12 campaigns (154 in 140 games) and led the 2011 ECHL playoff field in points (28) & assists (22), as well.
"I'm obviously very excited to be able to sign again with Colorado," said Daavettila. "It's been great to be able to play for this organization and in front of these fans for the past two years and I can't wait to make a push for an ECHL championship this season."
