Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) today completed a trade with the San Diego Seals, acquiring a conditional third-round selection in the 2025 NLL Entry Draft in exchange for veteran forward Chris Wardle.
The organization also announced that it's acquired a second-round selection in the 2024 NLL Entry Draft (New York Riptide) and a second-round selection in the 2025 NLL Entry Draft (New York Riptide) in exchange for veteran forward Paul Dawson and a third-round selection in the 2024 NLL Entry Draft (New York Riptide).
The pair of trades were executed in the final moments leading up to the 2024 NLL Trade Deadline, as the Mammoth organization found itself as a deadline seller for the first time in several seasons, courtesy of its 4-9 record to start the season.
After securing the 2022 NLL Championship honors en route to punching its ticket to a second-consecutive NLL Finals appearance in 2023, Colorado was able to successfully receive quality future draft assets while granting a pair of respected players in Wardle and Dawson opportunities to further their postseason resumes as part of the San Diego Seals and Buffalo Bandits, respectively.
With both of the veterans playing in the final years of their respective deals, they were scheduled to become unrestricted free agents at the end of the season. And while their presence on the floor and within the locker room alike will be missed, Mammoth General Manager Brad Self did well in acquiring three future picks in exchange for the duo.
In a set of corresponding moves, Colorado placed defenseman Owen Down on the Active Roster from the Practice Player List and placed defenseman Noah Lebar on the Active Roster from the Injured Reserve List.
Colorado now prepares to endure a bye week of rest before returning to the LOUD HOUSE Saturday, March 23 as the squad hosts the Rochester Knighthawks on Colorado Larosse Night!
