Colonials Walk Off in Nightcap to Split Double-Header

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials (3-4) spilt a double-header with the New Jersey Jackals (2-5), losing game one 4-2 and then winning 2-1 on a walk-off single in game two.

Catcher Chris Torres (1-for-3, RBI) knocked in Welinson Baez (1-for-2, RBI, BB) to break a 1-1 tie in the Colonials' final at bat of game two, to split the twin bill with the Jackals. Right fielder Angel Molina (2-for-3, 2B, R) was the only Colonial to have a multi-hit game. Torres was a combined 3-for-6 on the day with a double and a run scored in game one.

Reliever Chris Rollins (1-0) earned the win in the second game pitching two perfect innings and striking out three in relief of starter Chance Corgan, who had a no-decision in his second consecutive start. Corgan went five innings, allowing one run on five hits, three walks, and one strike-out.

In game one, second baseman Danny Bomback (2-for-4, 2B, RBI), shortstop Matt Nandin (2-for-4, RBI), drove in the runs for Pittsfield. Starter David Qualben (0-1) suffered the loss, giving-up two runs on five hits, two walks and six strike-outs.

Jackals' center fielder Kevin Clark (3-for-4, 2HR, 2B, 2RBI) led the way for the visitors with a pair of homers and a double, while second baseman Argenis Reyes (2-for-4, 2B, 2RBI) also drove in a pair with a late two-run double in the seventh inning.

New Jersey starter A.J. Wideman (1-1) earned the victory in game one, with five and two-thirds innings of work, yielding one run on six hits, one walk and five strike-outs. Issac Pavlik (0-1) took the loss in game two.

The Colonials beginning a for game series with the Quebec Capitales on Thursday evening at 7:05pm when right-hander Miguel Flores (0-0) takes the mound at Wahconah Park.
