Colonials Take Down Tornadoes, 7-5

Worcester, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials scored six runs in the seventh inning to beat the Worcester Tornadoes 7-5 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Wednesday evening.

Colonials' starter Kyle Zaleski (3-1) earned the win over six innings of work, giving-up one run on six hits and three strike-outs. Reliever Reymond Cruz (1) picked-up the save in his Colonials debut, allowing one run in the ninth inning.

Pittsfield left fielder Rafael Cabreja (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) had the game winning hit, a two-run single in the seventh inning, to pace the Colonials offense. Designated hitter Daniel Barbero (2-for-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI) doubled twice and drove in a pair in his professional debut while shortstop Matt Nandin (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) also added a pair of RBIs for the visitors.

Tornadoes' starting pitcher Jon Hollis (1-2) suffered the loss going six-plus innings allowing four runs on four hits, two walks, and four strike-outs.

Worcester right fielder Stantrel Smith (2-for-4, HR, 3B, 2 RBI), left fielder Ryan Crespi (2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI), and second baseman Mark Minicozzi (1-for-3, HR) each homered for the Tornadoes.

The Colonials will continue the four game series with game three versus the Worcester Tornadoes at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Thursday night at 7:05pm when Miguel Flores (2-3) takes the ball for Pittsfield against Worcester southpaw Zack Zuercher.
