Pittsfield Colonials News Release
Quebec, QC - The Pittsfield Colonials saw their season end as the Quebec Capitales took game four of the Can-Am League Championship Series 6-1, to win the series three-games-to-one and win the 2010 Can-Am League Championship at Stade Municipal in Quebec City on Friday night.
Capitales' starting pitcher Michal Simard (2-0) in his final professional start, retired with the championship clinching win over seven shut-out innings of work. He struck-out five while allowing just three hits on the night. Relievers Andrew Albers and Matthew Rusch each pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen to finish the game.
Quebec right fielder Sebastien Boucher (3-for-5, 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI) led the offense, blasting a pair of home runs and driving in five to give the Capitales all the offense they would need.
Colonials' starter Patrick Moran (1-1) suffered the loss over 2.2 innings, allowing five runs on four hits while walking one and striking-out three.
Pittsfield centerfielder Dan Carte (1-for-4, 2B) doubled and scored the Colonials only run of the night on Jason Taylor's RBI sac fly in the fourth inning.
