
Colonials' Rally Falls Short, Lose 5-3

Brockton, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials rallied from down 5-0 and put runners on 2nd and 3rd in the ninth inning but could not complete the comeback, losing to the Brockton Rox 5-3 at Campanelli Stadium on Wednesday night.
Pittsfield right-fielder Angel Molina (1-for-4, HR) crushed his second home run off the season in the seventh inning for the Colonials, a 400ft-plus shot off of the Campanelli Stadium video board in left-center field in the offensive effort. Shortstop Danny Bomback (2-for-5, RBI) and centerfielder Dan Carte (2-for-4, RBI) each collected a pair of hits and had RBIs for the Colonials in the loss.
Colonials' starting pitcher Miguel Flores (1-2) suffered the loss in five innings of work allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits, three walks, and two strike-outs. Reliever Patrick Moran dealt two perfect innings in his professional debut out of the bullpen, while teammate Shannon Sprouse also tossed a scoreless frame.
Rox starter Freddy Flores (2-0) earned the win in seven-plus innings of work, giving-up three runs on eight hits, no walks, and four strike-outs.
Brockton second baseman Scott Wearne (3-for-4, 2 RBI) drove in a pair of runs in a three hit performance, while first baseman Melvin Falu (1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI) smacked a two-run homer for the home team.
The Colonials will play the third and final game of the series with Brockton on Thursday night at 7:05pm when left-hander Matt White (1-2) makes his fourth start of the season for Pittsfield. Righty Wayne Lundgren (1-1) is schedule to start for Brockton. The Colonials will then return home to Pittsfield's Wahconah Park on Friday night when they open a three game series with the Sussex Skyhawks.
