
Colonials Come up Short, Capitales Even Series 1-1

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials fell in game two of the Can-Am League Championship Series 5-4 to the Quebec Capitales at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield on Wednesday night. The best-of-five-game series is now tied at one game each as it moves to Stade Municipal in Quebec City for the final three games, if necessary.
Quebec catcher Pierre-Luc LaForest (1-for-3, SAC, HR, 3 RBI) blasted a two-run homer and had the game winning RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to lead the Capitales offense. Shortstop Ivan Naccarata (3-for-4, HR, RBI) tagged a solo homer in a three hit performance while teammate Alex Nunez (1-for-4, RBI) contributed an RBI single in the effort.
Capitales' starting pitcher Dan Sausville (1-0) earned the win over 7.2 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits, two walks, and two strike-outs. Reliever Matt Rusch (3) notched his third postseason save recording the final five outs of the ball game, including a pivotal double-play ball in the eighth inning to leaving the tying run stranded at third base for Pittsfield
Colonials' starter Miguel Flores (0-2) suffered the loss going 2.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits. Reliever Jonny Venters dealt 4.1 innings in long relief out of the bullpen allowing one run to keep Pittsfield close.
Pittsfield's Danny Bomback (3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) knocked in a pair for the Colonials and enjoyed a three hit night while teammates Wes Fink (1-for-3, RBI) and Dan Carte (1-for-4, RBI) each drove in a run in the effort.
The Colonials and Capitales will play the remainder of the best-of-five game series for the Can-Am League Championship at Stade Municipal in Quebec City over the next three days, beginning with game three on Thursday night. Righty Kyle Zaleski will take the ball for Pittsfield against Quebec's Karl Gelinas (1-0) at 7:05pm.
