
Cole Perfetti Is Selected by Winnipeg Jets in 2020 NHL Draft

Saginaw Spirit forward Cole Perfetti made history Tuesday night becoming the highest player selected in the NHL Draft in franchise history. The 5'10", 177-pound center was selected in the first round, 10th overall by the Winnipeg Jets.
The 18-year-old was the fifth ranked North American skater going into the Draft by NHL Central Scouting Service after finishing second in Ontario Hockey League scoring during the 2019-20 season. The sophomore forward was selected fifth overall by the Spirit in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection and was highly regarded by Western Conference coaches in the OHL's annual poll. Perfetti received top marks in the Smartest Player, Best Playmaker, Best Stick Handler, and Best Shootout Shooter categories.
Perfetti's efforts also stood out in the classroom as he was chosen the OHL's and CHL's Scholastic Player of the Year. The Whitby, Ontario native took classes at Heritage High School in Saginaw and All Saints Catholic Secondary School in Whitby. Perfetti was enrolled in seven College level courses this year including Algebra, Analyzing Current Economic Issues, Elite Athletics, Healthy & Active Living, Leadership, Organizational Studies in Human Behavior and Human Resources, and World Religions.
