RALEIGH, N.C. (July 22, 2002)- The Carolina Cobras will begin their quest for the 2002 Arena Football League championship Sunday, July 28 as they take on the Grand Rapids Rampage at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI. Game time is set for 1:30 pm (ET) and will be televised on ESPN.
Carolina (6-8), making their second consecutive post season appearance, and Grand Rapids (8-6), the defending ArenaBowl champions, have met twice before, with the Rampage walking away with wins both times, including a 64-45 win at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Week 5. The Cobras and Rampage first met in Week 5 of the 2001 season in Grand Rapids, with the Rampage coming out three point winners, 41-38.
Sunday's game against Grand Rapids can be heard live in the Raleigh-Durham area on WRBZ 850 The Buzz Sports Radio with Gary Hahn and Tony Haynes on the call.
