Cobras Open 2004 Mini-Camp, Training Camp

CHARLOTTE - The Carolina Cobras of the Arena Football League will officially begin their drive to ArenaBowl XVIII this week as the team opens mini-camp and training camp for the 2004 season.

The new-look Cobras will take to the field for the first time on Thursday, January 15 for a three-day mini-camp that will consist primarily of non-contact conditioning and physical testing. Following the conclusion of mini-camp, Carolina will kick off 2004 training camp on Sunday, January 18.

Under the direction of former AFL Coach of the Year Eddie Khayat, the Cobras will welcome over 30 new faces to the team this season. Reigning Team MVP offensive specialist Bernard Holmes joins former All-Arena performers wide receiver/defensive back Jarrick Hillery and defensive specialist Damon Mason on a vastly improved 37-man squad.

FANG FEST

The second annual Fang Fest will be held from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24 at the Charlotte Coliseum. The free event is open to the public and media and will include autograph and photo opportunities with the entire Cobras coaching staff, roster and dance team. The day will also include various fun events for the whole family, including locker room tours and AFL 101 classes.

The Cobras kick off the 2004 season on Sunday, February 8 on the road against the Dallas Desperados. Carolina will open its home schedule on Saturday, February 21 versus the Arizona Rattlers.
