Cobras Host Las Vegas In Sunday Matinee

CHARLOTTE ­ The Carolina Cobras will be looking for their first win of the 2003 Arena Football League season on Sunday when they host the Las Vegas Gladiators at the Charlotte Coliseum. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.

In an effort to accommodate as many fans as possible, the Cobras are making 1,000 additional $15 tickets available for each game the remainder of the season. The team has sold out of $8 and $15 tickets in each of their first two home games while averaging 8,970 fans per contest.

In addition to the game, the 2002 World Champion Double Dutch Forces jump rope team will be showcased at halftime along with a performance by the Snake Charmers dance team on Harley Davidson motorcycles. Two lucky fans will also have the opportunity to kick to win a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 during the third quarter break.

The Cobras will wrap up the total AFL game experience with a postgame autograph session. Fans are welcome to come down to the sidelines to meet players and get free autographs immediately following each home game.

The 2003 season marks the historic debut of the AFL on NBC. The network's coverage this week includes: Los Angeles at New York, San Jose at Chicago and Grand Rapids at Georgia. Carolina's game was originally scheduled to be telecast but was removed from the schedule. Fans not able to attend the game can follow live scoring and stats updates on www.cobrasfootball.com.

Tickets for Sunday's game and all remaining home games can be purchased at the Charlotte Coliseum box office, at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 704-522-6500. Single-game tickets for all 2003 home games are available in the following prices: $8 (lower level end zones), $15 (lower level corners), $25 (lower level sideline) and $50 (lower level sideline).

Cobras/Gladiators Quick Facts:

* This will be the fifth overall meeting between these two teams. Carolina leads the series 4-0, including a 40-28 victory on the road last year.

* Gladiators OL/DL Wilky Bazile played for the old Charlotte Rage in 1996.

* Gladiators K Steve Videtich grew up in Winston-Salem and played for North Carolina State.

* Cobras OS Bernard Holmes returns to the lineup after missing last week¹s game due to a death in his family. Holmes had 283 all-purpose yards in the team¹s loss to Orlando on February 21.

* Cobras K Matt George is the only kicker in the AFL to make every extra point attempt (14-of-14).
