
Coach Chris Daleo spends time out in the community

Rockford Lightning head coach Chris Daleo will take some time away from preparing for the upcoming Continental Basketball Association Draft (Sept.20) to invest time in the Rockford Community, Sept. 6-7.
On Tuesday, Sept. 6, Daleo will be addressing graduate students at Northern Illinois University. From 7:30 p.m. until approximately 9:00 p.m., Daleo will enlighten students as to the inner workings of minor league basketball. The class is titled "Managing Sport Enterprise" and Daleo will not only be talking about the basketball side of the minor leagues, but also the importance of obtaining corporate sponsorships, media relations and ticketing.
"Over all the years of working with the Lightning, I have had to do a wide variety of things," said Daleo. "Working in the minor leagues allows a person to receive valuable experience in all aspects of the business."
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, Daleo will team up with WTVO-TV17 answering phones for donations to help "Hurricane Katrina" victims in Louisiana and Mississippi from 10 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. at the American Red Cross building. Daleo will team up with other Rockford celebrities in order to help in the relief efforts.
"This is a great idea," said Daleo. "When Scott Leber,WTVO Sportscaster, called and asked if I want to help out, of course I said I was in."
