Clippers Make 66ers Conroy 20th Gatorade Call-up

GREENVILLE, S.C., April 6, 2007 - The Los Angeles Clippers signed guard Will Conroy of the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor.

Conroy's promotion marks the 20th Gatorade Call-Up from the D-League to the NBA this season, the most in the history of the league. Those 20 call-ups are spread among 15 players, also a new league standard.

Conroy joins the Clippers for the second time this season. He played two games for Los Angeles between Feb. 28 and March 5. A member of the All-D-League Second Team, Conroy appeared in 42 games for the Tulsa 66ers, averaging 15.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and a league-leading 10.6 assists. Selected as a 2007 D-League All-Star, Conroy also signed a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 30, 2007 and played in three games. Conroy averaged 4.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds in 15.5 minutes in his two games with the Clippers this season. The 6-2, 195 pound point guard was a standout at the University of Washington, leaving the school as the Huskies all-time leader in assists in a career and a season. Originally a walk-on at Washington, Conroy was the first Husky player to ever top 200 assists in a season. The Seattle native also finished his outstanding four-year college career 21st on the Huskies all-time scoring list and led Washington to its first-ever Pac-10 Tournament Championship as a senior in 2004-05 while earning Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 honors. The NBA Development League includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Anaheim Arsenal (Calif.), Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Bakersfield Jam (Calif.), Colorado 14ers (Broomfield), Dakota Wizards (Bismarck, N.D.), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Idaho Stampede (Boise), Los Angeles D-Fenders (Calif.), Sioux Falls Skyforce (S.D.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.). Expansion teams for the 2007-08 season have already been announced in Orem, Utah, the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas and Des Moines, Iowa.

The D-League continues to develop talent from across all disciplines for the NBA's 30 teams and the entire NBA umbrella. In addition to the assignment of 24 players to D-League affiliates, there have also been 20 GATORADE Call-Ups from the D-League to the NBA this season. Additionally, every referee hired by the NBA since 2002 has worked in the D-League, while coaches, athletic trainers and front office executives are also being developed.
