Come watch your hometown team as they take on the Charlotte Knights tonight at 7:05 PM for the final Opening Night of Cooper Stadium. Left handed pitcher Mike O'Connor (pictured) will take the mound for the Clippers in the stadium's 71st opening game.
The Columbus Clippers fans will have many familiar faces to cheer for this spring!
Bret Boone will be starting the season as the Clippers' second baseman. The 39-year-old last played in the Major Leagues in 2005. Boone is looking to get as many at-bats as possible as he works his way back to the Majors.
Boone, a former All-Star with the Reds and Mariners, is a 14-year major league veteran with Seattle, Cincinnati, Atlanta, San Diego, and Minnesota. He was third in the AL MVP balloting in 2001, when he hit a career high .331 with 37 home runs with 141 RBIs.
Also, returning from last year and in the starting line-up will be 1B Larry Broadway and RF Kory Casto. The starting catcher will be former Clipper Wil Nieves.
