Clinton Snaps 4-Game Skid and O'Fallon's 6-Game Win Streak

CLINTON, Iowa - The Clinton LumberKings (9-7) lost to the O'Fallon Hoots (9-9) 8-4 at NelsonCorp Field on Friday afternoon.

The LumberKings scored first in the top of the second on a Tate Gillen RBI double and a RBI single by Will MacLean to take a 2-0 lead.

Clinton would score again in the bottom of the fourth on another RBI double by MacLean and a two-run homer by Connor Giusti that would hit off the top of the Bud Lite Picnic Pavilion sign.

The Hoots would rally in the top of the fifth inning with a three-run inning on a RBI walk, an RBI fielder's choice, and a Jeremy Meyer RBI single to cut the lead 6-3. The Hoots would score again in the top of the sixth on a Drew Mize RBI single.

Clinton would get their insurance runs in a big seventh inning on an RBI single by Alex Diaz, an RBI single by Trevor Burkhart, a two RBI single by Gillen, and a sac fly RBI by Jeremy Figueroa.

O'Fallon's starter, Barrett Lohman, would suffer his second loss of the season. He threw three and one-thirds innings, allowing eight hits, six runs, all earned, strike out three batters and give up a home run.

Clinton's starter, Tyler Stern, would throw three innings, allowing one hit, no runs, or walks and striking out a season high six batters. Lucas Foley would enter in relief, and throw two innings allowing two hits, three runs, all earned, four walks, and strikeout two batters. He would earn his first career win of the 2023 season in his first appearance.

Clinton hosts the O'Fallon Hoots on Saturday, July 22 for game two of the two game series and look for the sweep. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
