
Clinton Falls to Quincy in First Road Test of Season

QUINCY, ILL- For the first time in 2022, the Clinton LumberKings were on the road on Friday night. Clinton traveled to take on the Quincy Gems at QU Stadium in Quincy, Ill.
However, things didn't go as planned for Clinton. After taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning, The LumberKings surrendered nine unanswered runs and fell to the Gems 9-1.
The lone Clinton run came off the bat of Taeg Gollert (Missouri State). The Canadian hit a solo homer off of Gems' starter Luc Fladda (University of Oklahoma). It was the LumberKings first home run of 2022.
After the long ball, Quincy put up nine unanswered runs and took the win.
On the mound Blake Gaskey (Southeastern CC) started for Clinton and went 4.2 innings, struck out four Quincy batters and allowed three earned runs in the loss.
Clinton will take on the Gems once again tomorrow night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
Logan Romasanta (Morton College) will be on the bump for the LumberKings.
