Cleveland Guardians Cal Quantrill to Rehab Tuesday at Canal Park

(AKRON, OHIO) - Cleveland Guardians pitcher Cal Quantrill is scheduled to pitch in a rehab assignment with the Akron RubberDucks in Tuesday's 6:35 p.m. game against the Erie SeaWolves at Canal Park.

Quantrill is appearing in his second rehab game since being placed on the 15-day injured list on July 6 with right shoulder inflammation. The right-handed pitcher made 13 starts with the Guardians in 2023 striking out 38 batters over 67.0 innings pitched.

Quantrill was acquired by Cleveland from the San Diego Padres on Aug. 31, 2020 along with Josh Naylor, Austin Hedges, Owen Miller, Gabriel Arias and Joey Cantillo for Mike Clevinger and Greg Allen.

In 126 games (88 starts) between San Diego and Cleveland, Quantrill is 33-22 with a 3.90 ERA and 407 strikeouts over 538.0 innings pitched.

The right-hander previously made a rehab start with the RubberDucks this season on June 25 against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Quantrill picked up the win after tossing five scoreless innings while striking out three.

The Port Hope, ON, Canada native was San Diego's first round pick (eighth overall) in the 2016 draft out of the Stanford.
