
Cleveland Blasts Baltimore Snapping Losing Streak To Champs (6-4)

BALTIMORE, MD -- The Cleveland Force traveled to the Charm City and defeated the two-time defending Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Baltimore Blast by a final score of 6-4 at the 1st Mariner Arena. Cleveland wins first game in Baltimore since April 13, 2002.
With the victory, the Force snapped a 10-game losing streak to Baltimore that dated back to March 16, 2003. Cleveland won its second straight game and improved to 10-12 overall, 5-6 on the road, 1-3 versus the Blast this season and 64-69 all-time versus Baltimore teams. With the loss, the Blast dropped their fourth straight game while falling to 11-15 overall and 8-7 at home.
Baltimore opened the scoring (0-1) when defender Danny Kelly scored the short handed and restart goal at 12:17 of the first quarter.
The Blast added to their lead and opened the second quarter scoring (0-2) when forward David Bascome hit the shot past Cleveland goalkeeper Jim Larkin off the cross from MISL leading scorer and forward Carlos "Chile" Farias at 7:46. The Force cut into the lead and finally got on the scoreboard (1-2) when forward Chris Handsor scored the power play goal on the header after taking the header shot attempt by forward Aaron Susi off the cross bar and put it in the net for the goal at 13:07. The assist marked the first assist for Susi with Cleveland.
Baltimore opened the second half scoring and added to its lead (1-3) when forward Giuliano Celenza scored the power play as he knocked a shot off Force defender Matt Johnson into the goal for the power play goal just 58 seconds into the third quarter. Cleveland cut the lead down to one goal (2-3) when Susi scored his first goal with the Force off the assist from defender Genoni Martinez at 7:31.
Cleveland tied the game for the first time (3-3) when Martinez scored the game- tying goal on the restart as he put the shot right past the Blast wall and into the net at 1:37 of the fourth quarter. The Force took their first lead of the game (4-3) when forward and Lorain native Chris Dore took the long outlet from Larkin and went on the break right past a Baltimore defender and goalkeeper Sagu for the go ahead score at 2:26. The Blast tied the game for the second time (4-4) when Marcos Chantel knocked down Cleveland defender Rene Rivas and went on the break away and scored the game-tying goal at 5:43. The Force regained the lead (5-4) when Dore scored his second goal of the quarter and game as he nailed a bullet to the back post off the cross from defender Matt Johnson at 14:16. Cleveland sealed the game (6-4) when forward Antonio Sutton sealed the game when he found the back of the net against the sixth attacker off the cross from defender and team captain John Ball at 14:30.
