Glens Falls Dragons News Release

Glens Falls, NY A day after the Glens Falls Golden Eagles clinched a spot in the Eastern Division, they faced off against the Cooperstown Hawkeyes for the third time in two days. A sweep of the double header yesterday at East Field versus the Hawkeyes yesterday, Cooperstown was looking to rebound in Glens Falls sending Southern Alabama pitcher Collin Blankenship (Southern Alabama) to the mound. Getting the start for Glens Falls was Max MacNabb (San Diego).

Blankenship pitched well in tonight's contest leaving after the sixth inning with the score tied at one a piece. Over his six innings of work he gave up one run (earned), and four hits. He also walked one batter and struck out three of the twenty-two batters he faced. In relief of Blankenship was Terrence Moore (Marshall) who would eventually receive the loss in this matchup in the tenth inning. With the loss Moore would fall to 2-1 on the season.

MacNabb would go five and a third before being relieved by Mike Myers (Georgia Southern) in the sixth inning with one out. Myers would pitch lights out baseball into the ninth inning. In his three innings of work, Myers would only give up two hits, no runs, and struck out one, walking none of the eleven batters he faced. To relieve Myers with one out in the ninth was Golden Eagles closer Kyle Ruchim (Northwestern). Kyle has made a name for himself this year closing out games. Tonight would be no different.

Ruchim went the final inning and two thirds. Over that time he gave up one hit, and struck out four or the seven batters he faced. As the Golden Eagles won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning Kyle improves to 3-0 on the season.

On the offensive, the Cooperstown Hawkeyes had one run on eight hits in the ten innings of play. For the Hawkeyes the bats were highlighted by a single and eventual run scored by Danny Nelson (Cal State Monterey Bay) in the first inning. The RBI was credited to Bryan Aanderud (Cyress) as he received the RBI on a ground out to Kyle Ruchim the secondbasemen.

For the Golden Eagles, they would push across two runs on five hits tonight. The first run came in the sixth inning as leadoff batter Clayton Brown (Tacoma CC) led off the inning with a double. He would later come around to score on a SAC fly to centerfield by Kyle Ruchim. The second run, in the bottom of the tenth inning would score PJ Leto who lead off the inning with a walk. Clayton Brown once again would be involved in the play, this time getting the RBI. He hit a ball to the second basemen who made an error, giving him the easy RBI and giving PJ Leto (Lurleen B. Wallace CC) enough time to score and give the Golden Eagles the 2-1 win in 10 innings.

With the win the Glens Falls Golden Eagles improve to 27-15. The Cooperstown Hawkeyes who fell in this one are now 22-17. The winning pitcher is Kyle Ruchim who is now 3-0 on the year. Terrance Moore receives the loss for the Hawkeyes, and falls to 2-1.
