Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

GREENSBORO, NC - Hudson Head hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Greensboro topped the BlueClaws 6-4 on Friday night at First National Bank Field.

Jersey Shore (12-15) has dropped the first four games in the series with the Grasshoppers (20-11), and are now 1-9 against the Pirates affiliate this season.

The BlueClaws scored two in the first inning to take the lead on a two-run single from Leandro Pineda.

Greensboro, however, took the lead on a three-run first inning home run from Hudson Head off starter Matt Osterberg. All three runs were unearned, however, because of a BlueClaws error earlier in the inning.

While Andrick Nava's RBI groundout tied the game in the fourth, the Hoppers re-took the lead RBI double down the left field line off Osterberg in the fourth. Maikol Escoto doubled in two more runs in the fifth inning off Jason Ruffcorn, plating two more unearned runs, these charged to Jason Ruffcorn.

Kendall Simmons singled home a run in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to 6-4, but that was as close as they would get.

Osterberg (0-2) gave up four runs, but only one earned run, in 3.2 innings and took the loss. Santiago Florez (2-0) earned the win in relief while Will Kobos got the last six outs for his second save.

Casey Martin stole three bases for Jersey Shore, while adding two hits and a walk. Kendall Simmons also had two hits in defeat.

The teams continue their series on Saturday night at 6:30 pm.
