Clams Hit Parade Continues in Win against Fayetteville

Edmonton, NC- The Edenton Steamers (12-9) put up double digit runs again in a 10-7 win against the Fayetteville SwampDogs (12-9) at Historic Hicks Field. With the win, the Steamers move into a tie for second place in the East Division.
The SwampDogs took the early lead when Steamers' starter, Kelvan Pilot, brought in a run on a hit-by-pitch. Fayetteville added to their lead in the third inning when Johnathan Allen had an RBI single to left to make it a 2-0 game.
Edenton quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning. Connor Kopach sent a single to right center to cut the lead to 2-1. James Battley then brought home Kopach later in the inning on an RBI groundout to tie the game at 2-2.
The SwampDogs retook the lead in the top half of the fourth when Austin Edgette drove home a run on a single to left center to make it 3-2. Fayetteville quickly continued to add to the lead after Braedon Barrett homered over the right-field wall to put the 'Dogs in front 6-2.
The Clams had an answer and this time it came in a big way. After an error and two walks, James Battley was hit by a pitch to bring home a run to make it 6-4. Jason Agresti followed Battley by grounding out to shortstop to bring home another Steamer run to make it 6-5. Chris Ayers and Jamie Galazin produced back to back RBI singles to give the Teal and Black their first lead of the game at 7-6.
Fayetteville added a run in the seventh to tie the game at 7-7, but the Clams' Chris Williams came up huge in the bottom half of the inning. Williams hit a home run out to right field to give the Steamers a 9-7 lead. Williams had his second consecutive three-hit night at the plate. He now is six for nine with six RBIs in the last two games for Edenton.
Billy Wilson added to the lead with a home run of his own in the eighth inning to stretch the Teal and Black's lead to three.
Nick Spear came on to close things down in the ninth for Edenton when he struck out the side after a lead off walk to give the Steamers the 10-7 victory.
Carmen Giampetruzzi picked up the win for Edenton after he went two scoreless innings in the seventh and the eighth. Both of those innings were also 1-2-3 innings for Giampetruzzi on the mound.
