Cincinnati Kings host the Detroit Waza on Saturday for the Home Opener

The Cincinnati Kings will host the Detroit Waza in their home opener on Saturday, Nov. 20, 7:35 p.m., Cincinnati Gardens. Fans are encouraged to bring two canned goods for a $2 discount per ticket with all donations benefiting the FreeStore Food Bank.

Doors to the Gardens open at 6:30 p.m. and $1 beers will be served until the 7:35 p.m. kickoff. Parking is free for all fans and is available adjacent to the Gardens and across the street.

On Friday, the Kings will travel to Canton to face the Ohio Vortex, who defeated the Detroit Waza, 11-10 in their home opener. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at the Canton Civic Center.

Kings begin the season with a win in Louisville

The Kings battled to a win over rival Louisville Lightning on the road with a score of 6-5 to take a share of first place in the Eastern Division with the Ohio Vortex. Jeff Hughes scored his first hat trick of the season by contributing three goals while Jeff Henderson, Sam Fiore and Eddie Hertsenberg chipped in goals. Goalkeeper Craig Salvati earned his first win of the season.

Kings Players Crowned with Top Honors

Three Kings players will be honored before Saturday night's game for their outstanding achievement last season in the PASL. Kings player Jeff Hughes led the league with a season-high 53 points and 37 goals, which earned him the League's Most Valuable Player and All-League First Team honors. Also earning recognition from the 2009-10 season were defender Jeff Henderson, All-League First Team, and goalkeeper Craig Salvati, All-League Second Team.
