Cincinnati Kings News Release

Cincinnati (December 3, 2011) - Behind a hat trick by Nik Djokic, the defending Eastern Division Champion Cincinnati Kings avenged an earlier season loss to the Ohio Vortex by defeating the Vortex 9-3 in PASL action Saturday night at the Cincinnati Gardens.

The Vortex took an early 2-0 lead on two quick goals by Jared Dombrowski but the first two Djokic goals tied it up midway through the second period. The Kings took their first lead of the night off a rebound goal by Sam Fiore, followed by Djokic's third of the night along with a point-blank goal by Matt Breines in the final minute of the second quarter to make it 5-2 at the half.

The Kings opened the third with a Shawn Rockey goal, the only score in the period. The Vortex Andy Lorei scored in the fourth to cut the Kings lead to 6-3, but Allen Eller answered moments later on a power play goal, then in the final minute Drew Ducker and Eller tacked on two quick goals for the final 9-3 margin.

Cincinnati had 27 shots on goal to Ohio's 20. Kings goalkeeper Craig Salvati was credited with 13 saves.

With the win, the Kings avenge an 8-6 loss to the Vortex on the road, and now are 2-3 on the season. The Kings next home game will be Friday, December 30 at 8:05 p.m. against Louisville.
