Anaheim Bolts News Release
Anaheim, CA- (December 3)- The Anaheim Bolts recorded their first ever PASL victory with a 12-10 victory over the Turlock Express at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
The Bolts scored the first six goals and never looked back, but the Express deserves credit for turning a six goal deficit into just a two goal loss.
The forward line of Adriano de Lima, Patric Ruiz and Tomislav Colic or Enrique Tovar (depending on the shift) were particularly inspired, combining to score five of Anaheim's first six goals.
Paul Wright also opened his account in a Bolts jersey with a blast from the top of the arc on a power play, at the 1:29 mark of the second quarter to make it 5-0.
De Lima then showed his outrageous skill, juggling his way through three players in the corner before flicking it across goal for Tovar to smash home his second of the evening.
Trulock began to claw its way back into the match with goals from Eduardo Meza and a cheeky back-header off a long ball by Juan Flores. Both goals assisted by Jorge Quiroz.
Normal service was soon resumed, however, as the Bolts finished the half with a beautiful effort from Colic. The Serbian back-heeled the ball beyond Express goal-keeper Santos Arteaga at the back post off a feed from Wright to go into the break with an 8-3 lead.
Turlock came storming back in the third with four goals, but further strikes from Tovar to complete his hat trick, Hugo Casillas and Marcus Watson on the power-play, kept Turlock at bay as the third period ended 11-8 in favor of the Bolts
The visitors would add two more goals in the fourth quarter through Jesse Horta and Uriel Robledo, but a power-play goal sandwiched in between by Tovar (his fourth of the night) ensured Anaheim would make history with a 12-10 victory.
"It was a wonderful night for the Bolts and I am so proud of our team," said owner and head coach Bernie Head Coach. "Now we need to build on this momentum."
Tovar had four goals and two assists to lead Anaheim while De Lima chipped in with a goal and four helpers.
Robledo paced Turlock with a hat-trick, while Quiroz recorded four assists.
Anaheim is back to work tomorrow evening when it takes on amateur side Docemas in a US Open Arena Cup first round match at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 P.M. PST.
