Anaheim Bolts News Release
Anaheim, CA- (December 3)- Tonight, the Anaheim Bolts will turn their attention to the US Open Arena Cup when it takes on amateur side Docemas in the first round at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena at 8:00 P.M. PST.
The Bolts will be full of confidence after recording their first ever victory in league play last night with a 12-10 win over the previously undefeated Turlock Express.
Enrique Tovar had four goals while Adriano De Lima recorded four assists as the Bolts raced out to a 6-0 lead and eventually held on for all three points against the top team in the Professional Arena Soccer League.
Despite the confidence factor, the Bolts could be running on tired legs with its second game in less than 24 hours.
"I will just tell the guys to go home and relax tonight," head coach Bernie Lilavois said after last night's victory. "We will bring them in here tomorrow morning for a light work out and then they can get some rest during the day again. We will be facing an amateur team that will be just as hungry as any pro team, so we will have our hands full once again."
The Bolts can also count on a sizable roster, so plenty of players who did not play last night, may feature this evening.
Docemas enters the first round by winning the regional qualifying tournament. Led by head coach, Robert Bakhtiari, Docemas defeated Freekick 4-3 in the final. Bakhtiari's side finished the qualifying tournament with a record of 3 wins and 1 draw, while scoring 25 goals and conceding just 11 in the process.
It is worth noting that in the tournament, Docemas tied the Bolts Reserves- Blue 5-5 in the opening round, and then stormed past them with a 7-2 victory in the semifinal.
The Bolts will look to record its second victory in as many days, but as cup tournaments around the world have shown, anything can happen in knockout soccer.
