Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
INCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones have received a proclamation from the City of Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory, announcing Friday as âCincinnati Cyclones Day'. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
The proclamation honors the team for their successful series victories against South Carolina, Charlotte and Reading. The club is presently in the Kelly Cup Finals, leading Idaho, two games to one in the best of seven series. In 2008, the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners and City of Cincinnati presented the team with three proclamations.
The Cyclones (44-25-3) finished second in the North Division and then went the full five games with South Carolina, the defending Kelly Cup champions. In the second round, Cincinnati knocked off the American Conference regular season champs-Charlotte-in seven games. Trailing in the best of seven American Conference Finals to Reading, the Cyclones reeled off four straight wins to become the first team in ECHL history and only the sixth in pro hockey history, to rally from the deficit.
Game four of the best of seven series against Idaho for the Kelly Cup takes place at U.S. Bank Arena tonight at 7:30pm. The fifth game will happen tomorrow night (Friday, May 21) at 7:30pm. Should the sixth and/or seventh games be needed, they would be played at Idaho on Tuesday, May 25 and Wednesday, May 26. Game time each night is 9pm and will be carried on ESPN 1530.
Tickets for the 2010-11 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale, as well as for this final round of the USA Collision Centers playoff chase. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. All broadcasts of the games are carried on the club's website at: www.cycloneshockey.com.
