CIBC Canada Russia Series Rolls into Budweiser Gardens Monday Night

November 10, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
London Knights News Release

For 17 years, the CIBC Canada Russia Series has been a prelude to the IIHF World Junior Championships. In this series, the best young hockey players from Russia and Canada face off in a six game, cross-country showdown. The series sees the two nations play in different regions of Canada, and features young Canadian stars from the Canadian Hockey League that spans across the country. For the two games played in Ontario, the Knights are well represented.

The first Ontario game took place in Kitchener last week where Team OHL topped Team Russia 4-1. We saw three Knights skaters on the roster, with two of them hitting the scoresheet. San Jose draft pick Ryan Merkley picked up an assist on Team OHL's second goal of the game, while Connor McMichael netted the team's third of the game. London Knights' co-captain, Liam Foudy also suited up for Team OHL while Head Coach Dale Hunter was behind the bench. Head of Security for the London Knights, Bob Martin, was also apart of the Team OHL staff for Thursday's game.

As the series shifts to Budweiser Gardens, the London fans will be able to catch their hometown boys take the ice against Team Russia. Dale Hunter and Bob Martin will be joined by familiar faces, with Dylan Hunter, Chris Maton, and Doug Stacey working alongside him for this contest. These eight, alongside the rest of Team OHL, will look to give Canada a commanding lead in the series once the puck drops at 7pm Monday Evening.
