JUPITER, Fla. (May 17, 2015) - The Fort Myers Miracle held off the Jupiter Hammerheads, 5-3, to avoid the sweep at Roger Dean Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Miracle picked up a run in the first inning after loading the bases on Jupiter starter Chris Sadberry. Jason Kanzler led off with a single into left and moved to second on a bunt single by Zack Granite. A balk from Sadberry pushed the runners to second and third. Goodrum walked to load up the bases.

Chad Christensen then lifted a fly ball to right field that was caught by Cameron Flynn, but Kanzler raced home to score to put the Miracle up 1-0. Christensen was credited with his 10th RBI of the season on a sacrifice fly. With runners on the corners, Michael Quesada flew out to shallow right for the second out. Granite tried to tag from third, but Flynn gunned him out at home plate to end the inning.

Jupiter tied the game up in the bottom of the first. J.T. Riddle led off with a double into left center off Miracle starter Kohl Stewart. After Blake Barber popped up on a failed bunt attempt, Austin Dean bounced a double just fair down the third base line to score Riddle and tie the game 1-1.

Regaining the lead in the fourth, the Miracle got a lead off double from Christensen. Jupiter center fielder Yefri Perez misplayed the ball off the bouncing ball by the wall and Christensen advanced to third on the error. After Quesada struck out, Knecht pulled a hard grounder through the left side of the infield to plate Christensen and lift the Miracle to a 2-1 advantage.

Again, the Hammerheads rallied to tie the game. In the bottom of the fifth, Perez singled on the infield, but Goodrum's throw bounced into foul territory and Perez moved all the way to third base. On the next pitch from Miracle starter Kohl Stewart, Riddle hit a soft liner into right center to bring in Perez and tie the game, 2-2.

Stewart exited after five innings in a no decision and two runs allowed, one earned, with four strikeouts.

Jupiter Starter Chris Sadberry left after the fifth as well in a no decision after giving up a pair of runs, two walks and five strikeouts.

Christensen's big day continued in the top of the seventh. With two out and one on base, Christensen faced Jupiter reliever Tyler Bremer. On an 0-1 pitch, Christensen roped a double into the left field corner to score Granite from first base and break a tie game, 3-2. Quesada then singled up the middle and Christensen crossed home to push the Miracle lead to 4-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Hammerheads loaded up the bases and got a sacrifice fly from Blake Barber to cut the Miracle lead to 4-3. Fort Myers answered by scoring on a wild pitch from Bremer in the top of the eighth to regain a two-run advanced, 5-3.

Luke Westphal picked up the win after giving up a run in 1.1 innings of relief work. Brian Gilbert went a scoreless 1.2 innings and J.T. Chargois recorded a perfect ninth for his third save of the season.

The Miracle (17-20) stay on the road for game one of a three-game series with the Bradenton Marauders at McKechnie Field. Fans can listen to the broadcast on www.miraclebaseball.com with the "Voice of the Miracle" Brice Zimmerman. The MiracleBaseball.com pregame show begins at 6:05 p.m.
