Langkow, 22, returns to Alaska after spending this entire season in the AHL - however most of it recovering from injury. Langkow began the season in training camp with the Peoria Rivermen. He was then loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers just before the start of the season, and was off to a great start. The 6'1", 190 lbs. Vegreville, Alberta native had five points (1g, 4a) in seven games, before suffering an injury. He has remained sidelined since October 22.
Last season Langkow burst onto the scene of pro hockey with the Aces. He finished sixth in team scoring with 36 points (15g, 21a) in 56 games. He was also instrumental in Alaska's playoff run, leading the team and finishing second in the ECHL with eight post-season goals. He added three assists for 11 points in 13 games. Langkow was recognized for his tremendous first season, serving as the lone All-Star selection among Aces players. Langkow tallied two goals in the ECHL All-Star Team's win over Bakersfield. After his All-Star selection, Langkow was named the Reebok ECHL Rookie of the Month in February. That month, Langkow had 16 points (6g, 10a) and was a +9 in 13 games. His monthly totals included four separate three-point nights, and points in eight of the 13 games, as the Aces went 9-3-1. The rest of the hockey world took notice as Langkow was called up to the Aces AHL affiliate in Peoria. He scored in his first game, and spent nearly a month in Peoria, posting a goal and two assists in eight games. Prior to turning pro, Langkow scored 154 points (53g, 101a) in 263 Western Hockey League games with Spokane, Saskatoon, and Everett. Chris is the younger cousin of current Phoenix Coyotes forward Daymond Langkow, who is a veteran of over 1,000 NHL games.
