Toronto, Ontario -- The 2010 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft is scheduled for Tuesday and like most teams, the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings continue to prepare.

The Wheat Kings were busy during last year's draft, acquiring the rights to Finnish right-winger Toni Rajala and Swedish born blueliner Alexander Urbom with the 14th and 23rd picks respectively as they began preparing to host the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

Brandon owns the 59th pick in the first round and is scheduled to make its pick early Tuesday evening.

Wheat Kings' general manager Kelly McCrimmon told CKLQ's Bruce Luebke that he's open to all types of players.

"With as late as we pick, we don't want to exclude any position and we don't want to exclude a player based on age," says McCrimmon, "We'll try to take a guy that can help out hockey club and make out move that way."

While Urbom is expected to play professionally in the New Jersey Devils' organization this winter, the Wheat Kings plan to retain Rajala's rights, meaning the WHL club will make just one selection in Tuesday's draft.

The two-round draft will take place online and can be followed live as picks are made at http://chl.ca/importDraft.php.

Each team in the CHL is permitted to carry two European Import players each season. These players are selected annually at the Import Draft, with the order of selection rotating through each of the three leagues in the CHL using an inverse order of their final regular season standings from the 2009-10 season.

The WHL's Prince George Cougars currently hold the number one selection in the 2010 CHL Import Draft followed by the OHL's Sarnia Sting, and the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads.
