CHL Announces Conference Alignment, Bucks Home Opener October 23

LAREDO, TX- The Central Hockey League announced Tuesday the conference alignment for the 2010-11 season as well as the dates of each teams home opener.

The Laredo Bucks ninth home opener in franchise history will be Saturday October 23rd at Laredo Energy Arena (7:30pm). The opponent for the home opener will be announced along with the complete 2010-11 schedule in the coming weeks. The Bucks are 6-1-1 all-time in home openers.

*BUCKS IN NINE-TEAM SOUTHERN CONFERENCE*

The CHL announced on June 1st that they have affiliated with the International Hockey League (IHL) marking the 19th year of hockey for the CHL and the 60th year of professional hockey for the IHL.

The 18 CHL teams will be split into two conferences (nine teams in each) for the 2010-11 season, with the Bucks in the Southern Conference along with eight other teams. Bossier-Shreveport, Tulsa and Mississippi have shifted from the North to the South for the upcoming campaign, while the five IHL teams will be in the North.

In the very near future, the two conferences will be given names reflective of the histories of both the CHL and IHL and new trophies will be introduced for the conference champions, the regular season champions and the league champions.

This is the second straight season that the CHL has had a two-conference alignment.

Opening night for the 19th CHL season will be Friday, October 15th.
